On July 6, the No. 6 RCAF (Royal Canadian Air Force) Museum in Dunnville, located in the Niagara peninsula of Ontario, hosted its annual open house and car show, marking a tremendous success. Visitors from near and far gathered to celebrate aviation history and admire an array of classic cars, including our own '46 Chevy flatbed, proudly flying the RCAF flag from the Second World War.
One of the event's highlights was a spectacular flyover by WWII-era Harvard training aircraft. This flyover held special significance as Dunnville Airport served as a pivotal training facility during WWII, where these very aircraft trained allied airmen from around the world. By 1944, thanks to efforts at facilities like Dunnville, Canada had ascended to become the 4th largest airpower globally, producing some of the finest aviators of the era.
In addition to the historical displays and flyover, the museum provided an engaging experience for all attendees, reminding us of the crucial role the RCAF played in the war effort. While being flat roof specialists, we at Watertite Roofing appreciate history and those who preserve it.
A special mention goes out to the Royal Canadian Air Force, celebrating its centennial this year. As we reflect on a century of dedication, bravery, and excellence, we tip our hats to the men and women of the RCAF, past and present. Here’s to another hundred years of soaring high!
